Races can specify which game version(s) (US/USA/NTSC-U/GXXE01, EU/PAL/GXXP01, JP/JAP/NTSC-J/GXXJ01) are allowed in the race's Info box.
If no version is indicated, it is assumed that all versions are allowed.
Category Rules
Due to RNG manipulation for one's starter Pokémon being particularly valuable, and said manipulation being difficult to pull off in a race setting where the race can start
at any time, races for "full-game" categories can use two starting time methods. For these categories, timing can start at either confirming your name
or immediately after the Salamence versus Metagross battle simulation (and having checked the summary for your manipulated starter only).
The info box should indicated which timing method is being used. If this information is not included, it is assumed that the former timing method is being used.
If using the former timing method, any form of IVs/nature/gender starter RNG manipulation is banned. Otherwise, RNG manipulation
is unrestricted unless it breaks other rules.
Beat the game: Timing stops on the first full black frame after the last comment from Eldes on Citadark Isle.
Purify all Shadow Pokémon: Timing ends upon the "opened the door to its heart" message for the final Shadow Pokémon fully appearing.
Snag all Shadow Pokémon: Timing ends upon the "DRAGONITE was caught" message fully appearing.
All Battle CDs: Timing starts when you select "Begin Battle" for the first CD. Timing stops when the final Battle CD you clear fades out.
Miscellaneous
The only permitted emulator is Dolphin, running on version 5.0 or later. Emulator-specific functions are banned. Using frame counts or
FPS displays to assist in RNG manipulation after the race begins is also banned.
Manipulating when the race starts to gain favorable RNG manipulation is banned.
Console runs can use either a GameCube or Wii.
If regularly using the second timing method for "full-game" categories, it is recommended to backup a copy of the save file for reuse. If using console,
this may require a softmodded GameCube/Wii.
