This is the race category for Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention! It's a very rng-heavy speedrun that requires a lot of adaptation, exp-balancing and a fair understanding of enemy AI patterns which can lead to many dramatic moments both good and bad. Racing this game usually ends up in total catastrophe for everyone, but fun and laughter is always assured.
As of right now, streaming is generally endorsed and required for every race entrant, but exceptions can be made if necessary. No in-game restrictions apply.
We are running the North American(NTSC-U) version of the game. PAL is not advised due to lower gamespeed. The Japanese (NTSC-J) version is not allowed since there are fundamental differences between these version. A dedicated racing goal for Any% JP could be requested.
All North American versions are allowed. Most emulators are suitable and allowed, but the emulation must be hardware accurate. Any improvements over console performance is not allowed. Any irregularities to the game run time caused by emulators may lead to an invalidation of the run.
Following rules apply regarding timing the run:
The timer starts when pressing "End" on the character name selection screen. The timer ends when the main protagonist Max drives the Chaos Breaker into Dark Dragons head in the cutscene.
The timer starts when pressing "End" on the character name selection screen. The timer ends when Balbazak is defeated and explodes in the cutscene.
